🔸 Cachiccata Quarries Ride (4–5 hours)
Discover the legacy of Inca engineering as you ride to the ancient stone quarries of Cachiccata, where the red porphyry stones for Ollantaytambo fortress were shaped and transported. Pause at the majestic Pakarictampu Pyramid Viewpoint for spectacular photos of the Sacred Valley.
🔸 Inka Viewpoint Ride (2–3 hours)
A shorter but equally magical route, ideal for families and beginners. Ascend to a high viewpoint overlooking the Andes and Sacred Valley, passing Inca chullpas and terraced landscapes.

Option (1) Duration: 4–5 hours
No experience required, minimum age 8 years
Embark on a unique horseback journey to the legendary Cachiccata Inca quarries, near Ollantaytambo. Ride through stunning mountain scenery, ancient canals, and sacred sites as your expert guide unveils the mysteries of Inca engineering. Stop at the breathtaking Pakarictampu Pyramid Viewpoint to capture panoramic views of the Sacred Valley before reaching the quarry, where red porphyry stones were carved and transported to build Ollantaytambo fortress.
Option (2) Duration: 2–3 hours
No experience required, minimum age 5 years
Discover the magic of the Sacred Valley on horseback with this shorter but stunning ride to the Inka viewpoint above Ollantaytambo. Starting from the charming Cachiccata community, ascend scenic trails passing ancient chullpas, lush vegetation, and breathtaking mountain landscapes. Enjoy views of the Pakarictampu pyramid and surrounding Andean peaks before returning to town.

ITINERARY DESCRIPTION OF THIS PROGRAM WITH PERU ALIVE
Your horseback adventure with Peru Alive begins with your pickup from Urubamba or Ollantaytambo, depending on your location. For those staying in Cusco or another area, pickup can also be arranged for an additional fee—just let us know, and we’ll coordinate the most convenient starting point for you.
From Ollantaytambo, we drive approximately 10 minutes to our local ranch in the Cachiccata community, where our well-cared-for Creole horses and guide team await.
Once briefed and equipped, we begin our chosen horseback journey:
🟤 Option 1: Cachiccata Inca Quarries Experience (4 to 5 hours)
Follow an ancient route along scenic trails to the legendary Cachiccata quarries, a sacred site where Inca stone masters worked the massive red porphyry blocks used in the construction of the Ollantaytambo fortress.
Along the way, we stop at the Pakarictampu Pyramid Viewpoint, where you’ll witness a spectacular panoramic view of the Sacred Valley—an ideal moment for photos and silent reflection.
Your guide will share insights into the advanced hydraulic and architectural techniques of the Inca civilization as you explore the quarries and surrounding canals.
🟤 Option 2: Inka Viewpoint Ride (2 to 3 hours)
A shorter yet powerful experience, this ride ascends to a high Inca viewpoint, offering impressive views of the Sacred Valley, the Andes, and the Pakarictampu pyramid.
Ride past Inca chullpas (burial towers) and agricultural terraces, learning about the ancestral presence that still lives in these lands. This option is perfect for families and first-time riders.
After the ride, we return to the ranch and transport you back to Ollantaytambo or Urubamba. If needed, we’ll assist with transport back to Cusco (additional fee applies).

But if you also booked your participation in the exclusive Andean Worldview Workshop, we will head to the home of the Andean Shaman, who will be waiting for you to begin a ceremony tailored just for you. Here, we will welcome you so you can connect with ancestral energy. You will participate in the creation of the Andean offering. You will be able to question the coca leaf and, through it, connect with our guardian Apus—a truly mystical and transformative journey.
